2022 MFP Fall Intensive Training Institute

The MFP 2022 Intensive Training Institute will be in Houston, Texas. The event will have 22.5 hours of training in mental health and substance abuse training on November 30 - December 04, 2022. The theme will be: Culturally Informed Systemic Solutions for Those Struggling with Substance Use and/or Mental Illness. Fellows will develop: a more systemic understanding of the impact of substance abuse on families, relationships, and individuals, especially within historically underrepresented and underserved populations, an increased familiarity with the major cutting-edge issues and research within the field of MFT, substance abuse, and underrepresented and underserved populations, and a clearer vision of how this training will segue to an engagement with service and clinical work with underserved populations of interest to the Fellow. The MFP 2022 Intensive Training Institute will be in Tampa, Florida. The event will have 18.5 hours of training in mental health and substance abuse training on August 11 – 14, 2022. The theme will be: Translation and Impact: Clinical Innovation & Direct Impact on Mental Illness and Substance Use
Fellows will participate in a community immersion experience and present their Culturally Informed Therapeutic Activities, which are therapeutic worksheets containing techniques to work with youths and young adults as they transition into adulthood. For the event program click here .

AAMFT Foundation 2019 MFP Intensive Training Institute

The AAMFT Research and Education Foundation's Minority Fellowship Program will host its first Intensive Training Institute (ITI), in the city of San Diego, California. The 2019 MFP ITI, funded under an MFP Grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (D-HHS). The MFP welcomes co-sponsor, Alliant International University in San Diego (campus) and Marriage and Family Therapy Program for hosting the event from November 13 - 17, 2019. The Intensive Training Institute will enhance the Fellowship experience for both Masters and Doctoral Fellows and influence their training to continue to serve ethnic minority populations and underrepresented populations. The Intensive Training Institute will feature interactive seminars, AAMFT Simulation, and advanced workshops surrounding the theme, The Courage to Lead: Transforming the Landscape of Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder Practice, Policy, and Research.

AAMFT 2018 MFP-Youth Fellowship Training Institute

The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Minority Fellowship Program will host its 2nd Masters (Now is the Time-Youth) Fellowship Training Institute, in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 2018 NITT-Youth Training Institute, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), will be held at Drexel University from August 29 to September 2, 2018. The Training Institute will enhance the Fellowship experience for Fellows and influence their training to continue to serve under-served minority populations The Training Institute will feature interactive seminars and advanced workshops surrounding the theme: Recognizing the Power of Change through Culturally Attuned Practice: Advancing & Advocating for Social Justice & Equity.

AAMFT 2018 Leadership Conference

The AAMFT Leadership Conference provides an opportunity for AAMFT Division Leaders to network and enhance various facets of their leadership through division management training, state and national level advocacy initiatives, and open collaboration. AAMFT MFP 2019 Spring Training Institute

The Winter Training Institute featured interactive seminars and advanced workshops with distinguished scholars and clinicians in the behavioral health field of marriage and family therapy. MFP Fellows had the opportunity to learn from, and interact with, presenters in the areas cultural sensitive interventions with ethnic minority populations, as well as, the integration of advanced quantitative research modalities.

The 2019 AAMFT Annual Conference was held in Austin, TX, from August 28-September 1, 2019. MFP Fellows had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with leaders in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.
