AAMFT Foundation 2019 MFP Intensive Training Institute

The AAMFT Research and Education Foundation's Minority Fellowship Program will host its first Intensive Training Institute (ITI), in the city of San Diego, California. The 2019 MFP ITI, funded under an MFP Grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (D-HHS). The MFP welcomes co-sponsor, Alliant International University in San Diego (campus) and Marriage and Family Therapy Program for hosting the event from November 13 - 17, 2019. The Intensive Training Institute will enhance the Fellowship experience for both Masters and Doctoral Fellows and influence their training to continue to serve ethnic minority populations and underrepresented populations. The Intensive Training Institute will feature interactive seminars, AAMFT Simulation, and advanced workshops surrounding the theme, The Courage to Lead: Transforming the Landscape of Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder Practice, Policy, and Research.

For the first time, The MFP is welcoming the Marriage and Family Therapy community to hear more about the MFP program and meet our Fellows. Registration is now closed for the networking session with MFP Fellows. All training is restricted for current MFP Fellows. The MFP will be showcasing our Fellows from past to present, the national MFP Program's history, and the AAMFT Foundation's history from past to present. Lastly, there will be a networking time to interact with our MFP Fellows, Staff, and Alumni, MFP Mentors. The MFP strongly encourages local MFT faculty, undergraduate senior students (social sciences majors) who have an interest in Marriage and/or Couple Family Therapy, and masters students and doctoral students who are pursuing a career in Marriage and/or Couple Family Therapy and have a passion or commitment to serving ethnic minority populations and underrepresented populations to attend.
