THE MFP TIMES

The MFP Times is the official newsletter of the Minority Fellowship Program at the AAMFT Research and Education Foundation. The MFP Times serves as a reporting tool for the MFT Community, program stakeholders, and MFP Fellow and Alumni. The Minority Fellowship Program publishes, yearly, information concerning the program and its performance, Fellow professional and training development, the impact of MFP Alumni on developing Mental Health and Substance Abuse services, and MFP events. 2023 Publication

The long-term, interrelated problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic require critical thinking, empathy, and changes in various systems. Therefore, in the sixth edition of The MFP Times, the Foundation for the Advancement of Human System's (formerly AAMFT Foundation) Minority Fellow Program focused on Systemic Solutions, introducing Fellows to clinical interventions, research, policies, and leadership skills that make systemic change, leading to decreases in substance use and mental illness for marginalized populations.

2022 Publication

In this current mental health crisis, marriage and family therapists (MFTs)  can see issues and patterns at the macro-, meso-, and exo-systems and provide support and clinical intervention. In the fifth edition of The MFP Timesthe MFP focused on innovative ways MFTs could use their knowledge and skills to improve mental health and decrease substance use in marginalized or underserved populations. The MFP also highlighted research and career pathways in the theme, Translation and Impact.

2021 Publication

In this fourth edition, the MFP addresses Trauma and helping to heal complex trauma for historically marginalized populations and underrepresented communities. A year of training Fellows in research, practice, and teaching, to be a resource for Resilience and improve mental health and substance abuse services.
